The Ebeneezer Wallet (Dark Choc/Orange/Bongos)
In 1893, Scottish textiles merchant Ebeneezer Brown Fleming began exporting Dutch wax fabric to West Africa, creating an industry that continues to provide employment for local craftspeople, not to mention clothing its residents in remarkably diverse and colourful garments.
Dundee has long been a powerhouse of ingenuity, being the birthplace of, amongst other things, the television, the ATM, the toaster and a certain video games producer. The cotton used in these products comes from Halley Stevenson, a world leader in sustainable, innovative fabrics. With its roots in the sails of North Sea herring fleets, waxed cotton weathers with time, each piece a one-off item built to last and bearing the marks of its life of service.
So, this is The Ebeneezer Wallet. It brings together 19th century pioneers and a Dundonian institution, designed and sewn by me in Leith.
The Ebeneezer is a hard-wearing bi-fold velcro wallet with contrast zipped coin pocket, zip puller, two card slots and large slot for notes. Dutch wax lining.
